Senior Life Institute
What began as a vision of our Associate Pastor of Congregational Care in her doctoral dissertation has come to life as Highland’s Senior Life Institute. The Institute expands senior life ministries at Highland to offer our congregation and the larger community new dimensions of lifelong learning. It is a significant way to care and share with our community. Donna Benson and Judy Singer serve as co-moderators for two recent events. In Celebrating the 500th Anniversary of Leonardo Davinci’s birth, the 2019 four-part fall event explored how this renaissance man influenced modern creativity and innovation.
Due to the pandemic, “Birds on the Brink” was pre-recorded and posted to Highland’s YouTube website so that individuals may now participate virtually, from wherever they are located. The Highland Quilters provided donations for an online Silent Auction whose proceeds will support the Earth Care of Creation ministry and provide support for bird habitat preservation in Manheim Township. Senior Ministry Breakfast
Sr. Ministry Breakfast meets on first Thursday of each month at Oregon Dairy Restaurant for a time of food, fellowship, and fun. This group fluctuates in the number of participants depending on the season, the weather and schedules.
