We have a special week-long opportunity (for Highlanders of all ages) to use our skills and strength to serve two families in our community by renovating houses that will be safe and warm for them, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Both houses are in downtown Lancaster, and will be big upgrades for these wonderful families! The house sponsored by Highland is included.
The two sites can accommodate work crews of 6 and 9, including our site supervisors. You may sign up for one day or all of them! If slots are filled for a day you are available, please sign up as a “reserve” on that date. We will try to re-arrange volunteers so that all can participate. If you sign up for construction, we will send you online forms that Habitat needs all volunteers to sign!
At the Howard house, (the house sponsored by Highland) work will include: Last coats of paint/ painting touch-ups and trim work, final clean, backyard work and fence repair
At the Lime house: Demolition, clean-out, possibly framing, and outside work
Kids and Youth under 16 will be based at Highland for most of the week, where they will help out in myriad creative ways (Youth may do some basic construction at church: more on that later). On Thursday, we can take up to 5 youth ages 14+ for Lancscaping/gardening work at the Howard St. House. We will also need adults with clearances to assist Will and Jenn with activities for under-16 people at church.
The week will be July 19-23. Each day will run from approximately 7:30AM – 3:30PM, beginning with worship at Highland before we depart for our work sites.
PLEASE SIGN UP BY JULY 2! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c4faea72cabfb6-highland2
