Quilted Banner
Highland has always represented the “Light on the Hill.” This beautiful landscape art quilt focuses on the image of the original church tucked on the hill backed by the mountains of Pennsylvania. The river represents the flow of the Holy Spirit within us. As it moves forward from the church into the community, it overflows with a waterfall of beads. The river, like our members, spills into the world.

Many unique fabrics make up the greens and blues. The oranges, corals and magentas mark the sunrise---always a symbol of Hope each day. The quilting accents the pieces within and adds dimension to the overall vision.

This banner was made for Highland's 50th anniversary in 2008.
On the back, there are signatures from so many church members to remind us of that joyful 50th celebration.

It was made by Mary Kay Hymes and Phyllis Thompson.

The quilt is made of 100% cotton, some of which was hand dyed. It is embellished with beads and embroidery, and is machine quilted.

This banner is located in the McClintock Chapel.
