From Memories to Mission

The church is a body or collection of persons, voluntarily associated together, professing to believe what Christ teaches, to do what Christ enjoins, to imitate Christ’s example, to cherish Christ’s spirit, and make known the Gospel of Christ to others.” – Robert Flemming Sample

Almighty God, who sent the promised power of the Holy Spirit to fill this church with willing faith:  we confess that we have

news of your love. God, continue to have mercy on us. Forgive our divisions, and by your Spirit draw us together as the

Body of Christ. As you have in the past, even now, and in all the days ahead, fill us with flaming desire to do your will,

Will you be a faithful member of this congregation, giving of yourself in every way, and will you seek

*The Affirmation of Faith from I Corinthians 15

This is the good news which by the Holy Spirit we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved:

that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, that He was buried and that He was raised on the third day;

and that He appeared to Peter, then to the Twelve and to many faithful witnesses. We Believe He is the Christ,

the Son of the living God. He is the first and the last, the beginning and the end, He is our Lord and our God, Amen.
