Adult Classes - Winter 2012

SPIRITUAL FORMATION “Prayer” facilitated by Rev Ann Osborne – Room 204 What is prayer? Can you multi-task with prayer? Can you really enjoy praying? What happens if you fall asleep while praying? Bring your questions about prayer and join with others to start the New Year with the basics on prayer. In January, Rev. Ann Osborne will facilitate discussion and learning using Ole Hallesby's classic primer on prayer. One of Norway's leading Christian teachers and a WWII resistance leader against the Nazi regime, Ole Hallesby encourages us all to talk to God.

The Bible and Current Issues Faith Café — Facilitator: Tom Whitworth — Room 208 Explore contemporary world events through the lens of scripture and Christian practice to see where God is working in the world. Based upon the “Wired Word” curriculum, each class draws from events that have occurred in the previous week.

PARENTING SERIES“The Five Love Languages of Children” facilitated by Dr. Hugh Smith and Rev. Ted Mingle – Lounge.

BIBLE STUDY (EIGHT WEEKS) “James Mercy Triumphs” (Beth Moore Series) facilitated by Jennifer Shutt - begins January 15 at 9:00 a.m. – Room 202 -  James, Jesus’ own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways the Book of James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any New Testament book. Come along on a journey to get to know both the man and the Book of James. You will never be the same again. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility and prayer.
