The mission of the Assimilation Team is to welcome visitors, help with the new members classes, and to assist new members as they find their way into the fellowship and programs of the Highland Church community.

To welcome visitors we . . .

• make calls to first-time visitors
• staff and maintain the Welcome Center
• recruit Sunday morning greeters for building entrances
• provide "Highland" mugs filled with Wilbur Buds and informational brochures for visitors
• provide visitor nametags - visitors can choose to use the nametags if they wish

We assist with new member classes by . . .

• providing hospitality
• compiling updated informational packets for each of the prospective members
• helping Reverend Ted Mingle with class orgaization

We help to assimilate new members by . . .

• providing a "shepherd" - a Highland member to answer questions, befriend and help with the transistion into the fellowship of the church
• offering a Continental breakfast the morning the new members are received into the fellowship of Highland Church
• encouraging a new member to come to Alpha or another program to meet others and grow in faith
• making calls to new member to "check in" three months after the person joins Highland
• holding a New Member Celebration for new members belonging to Highland for approximately one year. New members are celebrated with a luncheon and have the opportunity for small group discussion with one of the pastors.

The "A Team" (aka Assimilation Team) meets 4 or 5 times a year.
