Youth @ Highland
Sunday’s at 9:30am in the Youth Center and Middle School Room.
We will return to this time slot when we are able.
Sundays from 5:30pm to 7:30pm in the Youth Room. Even with the persistence of COVID (and accompanying guidelines) this is something to be excited about. We will be reading, imagining, and learning from the key stories of the Bible along with the rest of Highland through The Story. We are also planning to have dinner together each week.
Who Are We?
Youth @ Highland is a group dedicated to open doors, lasting relationships, and learning what it means to be a faithful follower of Christ. We welcome people no matter where they are in life, or what questions they bring, because each person has something important to contribute. We hope to provide a non-judgmental space for youth to be themselves, build good relationships, and talk about what matters most to them.
When you come to Youth Group, we will welcome you enthusiastically. You do not have to be a member of Highland or a Christian. We will eat together, play together, read the Bible together, and remind you that you are a beloved child of God.
Look around the website and you’ll see that there is probably a Youth @ Highland event coming up. We hope to see you there!
If you want to know more about what’s going on, contact Will Massey, Youth Director using the form below.
Ninth Grade Confirmation Class
Ninth Grade students at Highland are invited to participate in the Confirmation Class. The class encourages students to remember the promises that were made in their baptism, reflect on what God is doing in their lives, and express what it means for them to be disciples of Jesus. At the conclusion of the class, students may become members of Highland by writing a statement of their faith and answering the confirmation questions in worship on Confirmation Sunday: March 20, 2022.
The class will meet each Sunday at 9:30 – 10:30AM in the Hudson Room, beginning September 12 and continuing through February (excluding Advent, holidays and school breaks). Teachers will include Will Massey, Rev. Dr. Roger Rabey, and Rev. Dr. Ann Osborne, with some help from Highland’s officers. Students are welcome to join Will and their classmates at the 11AM worship service each week.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for the class and to receive additional information.
Youth Leaders & Youth Group Dinners Needed
This Fall, Youth Group returns to our normal time (5:30-7:30PM) in our better-than-ever youth room! Even with the persistence of COVID (and accompanying guidelines) this is something to be excited about. We will be reading, imagining, and learning from the key stories of the Bible along with the rest of Highland through The Story. We are also planning to have dinner together each week.
To make all this possible, we need two things over the course of the Fall:
#1: Youth Leaders – These are people with Child Protection Clearances (or able to get them) who are willing to be a participant in our discussions, games, everything, while being a trusted adult and role model for young people.
#2: Dinner Contributions – For Dinner, we are hoping that families could donate one meal per semester for the Youth Group. It could end up being just once a year if everybody pitches in! I would anticipate 10-15 youth most weeks, but I would keep you posted on the attendance trends, as well as any dietary needs. Meals can be home-cooked but do not have to be. We have a crock-pot in the youth room if needed, and access to the kitchen is a possibility!
Sign up soon if you can at the sign-up link. It is nice to plan ahead, eh?
