Children’s Ministry Mission Statement

He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”  –Mark 9:36-37

Kids @ Highland in the time of COVID

Although our in-person activities are altered, including worship, we are still offering a multitude of activities for our children! We have been delivering goodie bags to go with the seasons, having online storytimes for our littles, meeting outside when we’re able, having outdoor movies, etc.! There are still many ways to stay connected with each other during this time. Please don’t feel that you can not join our group just because we aren’t meeting in person! Here are a myriad of ways to become and stay connected with our Highland family:

Children’s Ministry Highlights

Children’s Choir/ Musical

there are opportunities throughout the year when children can use their musical gifts.  There is a spring musical, various times to sing in the service, older children may play an instrument before the service, our family Christmas Eve service, and more!  This ministry is currently on hold because of COVID.

Open Gym/Date Nights

Leave your children with loving and experienced caregivers for 3 hours while you and your spouse/friends go out for an evening!  Cost is $10 per child, pizza is provided. This ministry is currently on hold because of COVID.

Yearly Family/Community Events

Many activities are planned throughout the year for our families and community to interact and have fun!  From our Trunk or Treat, to movie nights, to Vacation Bible School, there are activities for every age to enjoy!  Subscribe to our weekly email to get more info or check back periodically on our website for sign ups.  Follow us on facebook as well!

TNT

Our older elementary children begin a “pre-youth group” in 4th and 5th grade to prepare them for youth group.  This is a time to get to know one another better, build on our faith and have a LOT of fun!  We meet twice a month – even during COVID!  We meet outside when possible as well as online.

Sunday School

Our 3rd-5th graders meet weekly over Zoom to continue their Sunday school with their amazing teacher Ms. Parker.  They receive a weekly mailing with details about the upcoming class.  If you would like to join this class, please contact Laurie Juarez.  For our younger children, we have been pre-recording lessons that you can watch at home.  Follow our youtube channel to get updates.  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuhs2j920tA-xxa-__xb0Jw?view_as=subscriber

Gym Jam/Story with Laurie

Every Wednesday from October – April we meet in the gym for an hour to play!  This is for birth-preschool age.  Afterwards, the kids are invited to stay and listen to a story and do a craft.  Snack is provided.  Follow the ministry on FB https://www.facebook.com/groups/gymjamathighland

This ministry is currently on hold due to COVID.

Other COVID Ministries

During this difficult time, we have been thinking of other ways to reach our members and community.  Outdoor movie nights, outdoor meetings, seasonal goodie bags, games, activities and more!  To stay up to date of what we are doing, follow us on FB, subscribe to our weekly email, or give us a call!  Our ministry has not stopped because of COVID!  We are a family of God which supports, loves and cares for one another.  We would love for you to join us!
