Word and Worship at 10:30 a.m.
On Sunday morning, we set a part a special time specifically to spend time with God and one another. At Highland, we want each child to know what it means to be with God and explore the many ways we can worship Him. Word and Worship allows for children to learn the Word and Worship service elements through motor-sensory learning. By singing praises, hearing a message and taking time for the Lord’s Supper, each child will experience first hand a similar experience we have during service.
The Nursery
At Highland we offer full nursery care! We want it to be a place where infants are nurtured and cared for and toddlers have the opportunity to play and explore in a loving, safe, and clean environment. The nursery is located next to the welcome center. Upon arrival you must check your child in with our friendly caregiver. Enjoy worship with the comfort of knowing your child is safe and loved!
Volunteers and Parents
We strive to provide an exciting, yet safe environment for your children. All children from nursery through 1st grade must be signed in with the teacher in the classroom upon arrival and upon pick up. We will require signatures for check in and check out this year! Note this is different from years before.
We want you to feel comfort in knowing your child is in safe hands while you enjoy your classes!
We have a place for your gifts in the Children’s ministry! If you are looking for a place to serve at Highland, let us know and we can find the perfect place for you. On the registration form there is a place to mark where you are interested in serving! Please take seriously that God may have big things He desires to do through YOU!
Mission Statement: To transform the lives of children by nurturing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and interacting with God's Word; that they may go forward to disciple and impact the world for Christ.
Biblical Foundation: Luke 18:16
But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Purpose:
- To disciple children with the Word of God so that they might grow to think and live the way God has commanded.
- To establish in children habits of godly living. (Proverbs 2: 1-5).
- To offer a Christian community for children and adults who are committed to one another and Jesus Christ; that they might grow in their personal lives, talents, and learn to be a body of believers.
Highland Presbyterian Church fulfills this mission by:
- Having a foundation in Sunday school that purposely focuses on each age group addressing concrete and sequential teaching of the Bible while choosing activities that encourage all learning and interactive styles.
- Upholding a standard and atmosphere in all childrens' programs that promotes safety, trust, and examples of the character of Jesus.
- Promoting opportunities and encouraging awareness to serve one another within our church body and in our community and culture.
