Carson Lecture 2017

Highland’s 2017 Carson Lecture series welcomes Rev. Dr. Tom Tewell  on Saturday, Sept.23 and Sunday, Sept. 24.  Dr. Tewell has been an   ordained pastor for 40 years and is currently serving and the Executive Director of Macedonia Ministries.

He has served congregations in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and New Providence, New Jersey, as well as the 5,100 member Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas and the 3,500 member Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City. Each of the congregations Tom has served has experienced significant spiritual and numerical growth and has become deeply involved in ministry to the local community. The Memorial Drive Church in Houston is a Dollar for Dollar Church who gives one dollar to the needs of the world for every dollar they spend on themselves. Under Tom’s leadership, the Fifth Avenue Church developed a significant   ministry to the homeless in New York City.

Currently, Tom is the Founder and Executive Director of Macedonian Ministry, a position he has held since 2008. This ministry gives him a unique opportunity to serve as a pastor to  pastors.
