Call to Worship From Psalm 27 Rev. Ted Mingle
Leader: The Lord is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear?
People: The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Leader: One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after;
People: To live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life;
Leader: To behold the beauty of the Lord,
People: And to inquire in his temple.
*Hymn # 281 Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah CWM RHONDDA
Prayer of Confession (silent and corporate)
Author of life, we humbly confess that too often we fall short of Your
intentions for us and of our expectations of ourselves. We would touch
the world with goodness, but often we withdraw in selfish concern.
We would live with integrity and stand for truth, but we are torn with
nagging temptations. We would go about our daily tasks with
confidence and joy, but find ourselves struggling with self-doubt.
We need Your presence, O God, if we are to be what we could be
and want to be. Let our worship heal us, renew us, and strengthen us,
that we may go out in joy and be led forth in peace. Amen.

GOOD NEWS: The land sale agreement between Highland and Presbyterian Senior Living to transfer approximately 12 acres, for the purpose of erecting a senior living center, was completed last week. Full payment of slightly over $2 million was received from PSL and was applied against the outstanding debt of Highland's "Building New Foundations" building construction project. PSL has already secured subdivision approval from Manheim Twp and is now proceeding through the land development process with expectations that, without any unexpected delays, construction of the first phase could begin as early as November 2010 with completion of that phase by the end of 2011.
Dear Highland Community,
It has been brought to my attention that the recent newspaper article announcing my appointment as Dean of the Pennsylvania Academy of Music has caused some concern about how my position as Director of Music might be affected. The short and simple answer is that it does not affect my position at Highland. Without going into the details, I was asked to be Dean of the Academy - where I have been teaching for ten years - at a time when the institution is going through a painful transition: I agreed to accept the position only on the clear understanding that it must not interfere with my duties at Highland. I will continue to perform my duties here, as I always have, to the very best of my abilities as part of a dedicated staff and with the talented choir and musicians of Highland Presbyterian Church.
